Canton Drop Forge Recently Celebrated its 7th Annual “Safety Day at the Forge”

During the first quarter of each year, Canton Drop Forge designates a “Safety Day at the Forge.” A venue is chosen for a presentation by a motivational safety speaker and employees are also provided with a healthy lunch to thank them for working safely.

Presenters have included Brad and Dolores Gardner of Helping Hand Presentations, an electrical safety presentation by Gary Chaddock (a representative of American Electric Power), magic with John Drebinger, LOTO with Kina Repp & Master Lock and Wylie Davidson with Dival’s “Safe 4 The Right Reasons.”

Canton Drop Forge’s most recent presentation was done by Rob Medlock of Safety Controls Technology (SCT). Rob began his career with OSHA as a student intern and during the following fourteen years he rose through the ranks to become Area Director for the Cleveland OSHA Office in 1991. He served the public until his retirement in 2011 and is now a Senior Vice President at SCT. Rob’s presentation included several “safety milestone events” throughout his lifetime and thoughts and inspirations he shared that could enhance everyone’s safety performance. For instance, one of Rob’s favorite safety slogans is “It’s Better To Lose One Minute In Life, Than to Lose Life In A Minute.”

Canton Drop Forge’s Safety Mission Statement is as follows: Develop a workplace in which a commitment to housekeeping, safe equipment and following safe procedures is uncompromised and a culture of taking zero chances, all the time, every day, every shift, when no one is watching exists.
