Annual Fire Extinguisher Training at Canton Drop Forge: A Day of Learning and Excitement

At Canton Drop Forge, the safety and well-being of our employees is always a top priority. This year, we continued our tradition of ensuring that our team is well-prepared for emergencies by hosting our annual fire extinguisher training, conducted by the expert team from Perry Fire Department. This event not only reinforced essential safety skills but also brought an element of fun and competition to the training.

Importance of Fire Extinguisher Training

Fire extinguisher training is a critical component of workplace safety. Knowing how to effectively use a fire extinguisher can prevent small fires from becoming large disasters. The training provided our employees with hands-on experience in handling different types of fire extinguishers and understanding the correct techniques to extinguish various kinds of fires. This practical knowledge is invaluable in ensuring that our team can respond quickly and effectively in case of an emergency.

Highlights of the Training Day

The Perry Fire Department did an outstanding job of guiding our employees through the intricacies of fire safety. The training covered several key areas:

  • Identifying different types of fire extinguishers and their uses
  • Understanding the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
  • Hands-on practice with extinguishing open flames
  • Safety protocols and emergency response procedures

Adding a Competitive Twist

To make the training even more engaging, we introduced a friendly competition where employees raced against the clock to see who could extinguish a fire the fastest. This not only added an element of excitement but also encouraged everyone to apply their newly acquired skills under a bit of pressure. The competition results were nothing short of impressive!

And the Winners Are…

We are proud to announce the winners of this year’s fire extinguisher competition:

  • 1st Place: Les A. with a lightning-fast time of 1.2 seconds
  • 2nd Place: Grace G. with an impressive 1.4 seconds
  • 3rd Place: A tie between Raymond T. and Jon J., both clocking in at 1.5 seconds

Congratulations to all our winners and participants! Your enthusiasm and quick response times are commendable.

A Commitment to Safety

Events like our annual fire extinguisher training are a testament to our commitment to maintaining a safe working environment at Canton Drop Forge. We believe that well-trained employees are the cornerstone of a safe workplace, and we will continue to invest in comprehensive safety training programs.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Perry Fire Department for their expertise and support in making this event a success. Their dedication to community safety is truly inspiring.

Stay safe and vigilant, everyone!
